Osseous Surgery

Traditionally, gum disease is treated by eliminating the gum pockets. The infected gum tissue is gently elevated from the bone and roots of the tooth.  This process helps to expose the bacteria and aids in its removal.  Damaged bone is next reshaped to encourage proper healing and the tissues are replaced in a new, lower  position aimed at reducing the pocket depth.
